Severnside Community Rail Partnership is a Department for Transport Accredited Community Rail Partnership.
Established in 2006 as Community Interest (not for profit) Company, our principal partners and funders are Bath and North East Somerset Council, Bristol City Council, North Somerset Council, Somerset Council, South Gloucestershire Council, Great Western Railway and CrossCountry Trains. Network Rail and The British Transport Police also support the work of the Partnership.
Severnside is of around seventy Community Rail Partnerships delivering similar activity across Britain. We are members of The Community Rail Network the umbrella organisation supporting Community Rail Partnerships and volunteer station support groups.
Our small delivery team is supported by a Board of Directors comprising of representatives of our funding partners and independent members. We are actively seeking new independent Board members.
Keith Walton has been Chairman of the Partnership since its inception; he was a civil servant with the Department of Transport for a number of years, and then interim manager in a variety of transport operations and policy work.
Heather’s role involves fostering partnerships with communities surrounding local stations and developing schemes to promote a socially inclusive local railway. She is the main point of contact for, community payback, station enhancement projects, rail familiarisation and is a founder and steering group member for Platform rail education scheme. Her role includes securing external grant funding to deliver these schemes.
Faye originally joined the Partnership as Arts Coordinator and she is still responsible for delivering the creative art schemes across the network. In her new role as Community Development Officer, Faye is also the main point of contact for volunteers and station adoption groups, and she facilitates the Days Out By Train scheme to help marginalised groups build confidence in using the public transport network.
